My History as an Individual Commodity Trader

Commodity Trader Nick. My name is Nick Pingitore. I began developing commodity trading systems and risk and money management strategies in 1997 and trading with them in 2001.

In August of 2001, I opened an account to trade the commodity future markets using mechanical trading systems. By the end of the first quarter of 2008, I had compounded my account at 17.82% per year. In other words, I tripled my money in less than seven years!

There are many benefits to trading commodity futures with a mechanical trading system. However, nothing is perfect. There are limitations as well. In October of 2004, I opened a discretionary commodity investing account to exploit some of these limitations. By the end of the first quarter of 2008, I tripled my money again! This time in less than four years!

That is a 37.87% compounded rate of return per year!

View my track record as a commodity trader.

You’ll notice that I didn’t turn $2000 into $2,000,000 in two years, nor did I make a gazillion dollars trading commodities.

The leverage and risk needed to shoot for these unrealistic returns always… always, eventually ends in devastation for the commodity trader. What I did accomplish was to triple my initial investment. Not once… but twice!

You’ll also notice my accounts were not a straight upward line. There were draw downs that tested my emotions and long losing streaks that tested my patience. But, I was able stick with my trading strategies and let them work for me.

If this was easy everyone would be rich. Unfortunately for us, trading is not easy. Trading is hard. It will test not only your intelligence, but your mental toughness as well. But as hard as it may be, the opportunity to make a good deal of money is available to you. To succeed you will need to take advantage of every edge available and have the confidence to let your strategy work.

What adds to the difficulty is that there are not many viable trading solutions for the small-size commodity trader. In this game “small-size” refers to accounts less than 250k USD. Yes, this is where the big boys play.

So, to be successful at commodity trading… you are going to have to do some work. A lot of work… or hire someone who has already done the work and will continue to do so for you. That’s where I come in.

I founded Commodity Trading Solutions LLC to fill this void and provide an edge for the small-size commodity trader.
